The combined company will have over $22 billion in revenue with over 130 distributor members and over 900 locations in 50 countries.

GovConnect is a resource program that assists SMA distributor members to access and cost-effectively sell the right products and services to government agencies and facilities. The program covers all government facility types, from local municipalities, up through state and federal levels. SMA’s proprietary program is designed to help partners learn and grow by working together to better serve the public sector.

Richard McGann Announces Retirement

Richard McGann, President and Chief Executive Officer of Strategic Market Alliance (SMA) has announced to the SMA Board of Directors his intention to retire from the organization at the end of 2019.

“Strategic Market Alliance is now an established facilitator and channel influence being attended to by a talented, capable and dedicated management team,” said Mr. McGann. “As such, I believe now to be the right time to turn my attention to family and other pursuits.” Following long careers with Scott Paper, Unisource, and Williams and Associates Consulting, Dick joined SMA as President and Chief Executive Officer immediately following the formation of the company in 2006, overseeing the organization’s growth from a founding group of eight Distributors to more than 65 market-leading organizations doing business in over 205 geographies across the United States and Canada. “Serving SMA and its diverse family of stakeholders has been the highlight of my 55-year career in an industry that I admire, one that is comprised of hard working and resourceful people I deeply respect.”

Bill Schalitz Named to Spartan Board of Directors

MAUMEE, OH. —April 16, 2019 — Spartan Chemical Company, Inc., a recognized leader in the formulation and manufacture of s­ustainable cleaning and sanitation solutions for the industrial and institutional market, today announced the appointment of William (Bill) Schalitz to the Board of Directors effective April 16, 2019.

Bill Schalitz joined Spartan in 1993 as a microbiologist responsible for formulating novel antimicrobial cleaning solutions and biologically active products. After a brief period as Spartan’s Manager of Research and Development, Bill was promoted to his current position of Vice President of Research and Development where he is responsible for the Regulatory and Quality Departments along with core research activities and technology harvesting.

 

Mr. Schalitz recent election will have him continuing in his role of Vice President Research and Development, as well as serving as a member of the Board of Directors.

 

Bill holds a B.S. in Microbiology from the University of Toledo and an MBA from Kansas State University.  Prior to his role at Spartan, he spent five years on active duty as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army serving in various duty stations around the world.
